HWC Construction Company remodels and renovates homes in the north metro Atlanta area – from East Cobb in the northwestern part of Atlanta, west to Crabapple, Lake Lanier, Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns Creek, Suwanee, and Duluth, south to Buckhead and all areas in between.  

 In an industry plagued by dishonest contractors, HWC has withstood the test of time by building a solid reputation based on honesty and integrity.  HWC is truly a custom builder, one who uses a hands-on approach.  From the initial consultation until the final handshake at job end, HWC will meet or exceed client expectations by providing excellent service at a fair price.

H. W. Jim Chitty, co-owner, is a third generation builder, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, H. L. Chitty, Sr. who built homes in the Murfreesboro, NC area and his father, H. L. Chitty, Jr. who built homes on the Outer Banks.  Jim learned the construction business at a time when builders performed every phase in-house, from digging footings to framing to electrical, plumbing, HVAC to paint and trim. 

 Growing up on the Outer Banks, Jim framed homes under tough building codes with coastal requirements.  From there, he moved to the Charleston area where he framed houses and condos on Kiawah, Seabrook and Edisto Islands and on the Isle of Palms.  In 1980, Jim moved to Atlanta and worked as a master carpenter and crew foreman on houses in the Buckhead and Moore’s Mill areas and on high-end office condos at Lenox Pointe. 

 Jim gained valuable experience and knowledge from working with well established and highly sought after construction companies.  For 25 years, he has owned and operated HWC Construction, putting that background to work.  Jim’s friendly and courteous personality, combined with his expertise, make remodeling projects run smoothly and successfully. 

 Teresa Chitty, co-owner, grew up in northwest Georgia and has a background in accounting.  After attending UGA in the early 70’s, she moved to Charleston where she worked for a commercial general contractor.  Since moving to Atlanta, she has managed accounting departments for apartment management companies with expertise in apartment renovations and for restaurant management companies who constructed their buildings in-house. 

 Teresa now works with Jim in their remodeling company, bringing her years of business experience with her.  Teresa’s reputation for attention to detail and to customer service ensures that every homeowner concern, regardless of size, is handled quickly and satisfactorily.

 Jim and Teresa have been married since 1978, and they have two children, Adam and Ashley.  The couple enjoys spending time with their family and working on renovation projects at their own home.
